Message from our Athletic Director:
It is always our goal to keep student athletes participating in their sport. We do however want to remind athletes and parents of a few policies pertaining to athletic participation. Please keep the following in mind.
· Athletes must be enrolled in 5 or more classes.
· Athletes must attend school all day on game/match/meet days
(unless cleared by the athletic director in advance).
· Athletes must also attend practice the day before any game/match/meet.
· Athletes must maintain passing grades for all classes to participate (No grades of D or F).

Letter to Parents / Guardians:

Dear Athletic Parents / Guardians,

At Hedrick, our top priority is student learning, and we encourage our student-athletes to prioritize academics first and athletics second. As a reminder, athletes in secondary schools within the MSD must demonstrate academic progress to be eligible for participation in athletics.

Each Thursday / Friday, we issue grade check sheets to every athlete. Students must turn in their completed grade check sheets to their coach at practice on Monday.  Advisory teachers must initial the sheets confirming a student is passing.  If they are not passing a class, the respective teacher's signature is required.

If a student is not passing a class, they will be placed on probation for one week to improve their grade. If the grade remains below passing after the week, the student will be excluded from contests during that period. Additionally, any student who does not turn in their grade check sheet will not be allowed to participate until it is submitted.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in upholding these academic requirements.

Sincerely,
Hedrick Middle School
